I am almost a week into my New Year’s resolutions, and it’s going pretty well. I’ve definitely wanted to eat out, but then made something just as tasty at home. I do miss my chocolate, but not as much as I thought. And I really haven’t been all that hungry in between meals, so that’s a bonus as well.
The real challenge is sticking to my New Year’s Resolutions this time is other people. It seems as though everyone around me is trying to get me to cheat. “oh, you can eat out just this once, or one salad isn’t going to kill you”. You know what, they’re right. I can eat out and be healthy, but that’s not the point. And, I’m guilty of doing the same thing. When someone is dietiting, it’s hard not to encourage them to cheat or as a dietitian, explain why that certain diet won’t work. I don’t know why that is, maybe jealously that they are sticking to the goal, or selfishness to have someone else indulge in whatever it is I am doing.
Sticking to a resolution or goal is hard enough as it is. Why don’t we try and encourage each other instead of sabotage, even if we don’t agree with what they are doing? I’m going to try it, how about you?
